Tourist Tuesday - Birthday Weekend in Cambridge

Good morning everyone!
It's been a while... There is so much to do at the moment, and not a lot of time to actually write about it! It was my birthday on Saturday and I thought this was a great time to pick up blogging again, I have so much to tell you :) Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start... LOL well actually we'll start at the end but who's counting right?
 
It was my birthday weekend!

The bf took me to Cambridge for a lovely weekend. I always wanted to visit Cambridge as I'd heard it was really beautiful, and I finally got to go :)
He'd organised to have flowers in the room of the hotel when we arrived... 

And champagne with chocolate covered strawberries, so wonderful! The bath tub was actually in the room, we're not having this celebration in the bathroom ;) 

At dinner they brought this lovely plate over as well.

On the Sunday we went sightseeing, this is King's College. We could go in, but I was more up for seeing the rest of the town.

Obligatory tourist piccie (yes, it's March 22nd and I'm wearing a woollen beanie!) with Trinity College in the background.

When we came across this sweet shop I just had to get in the picture the big lollipop hihi.

The Round Church

The canal, you can go 'punting' here, a bit like Venice where the sail you around in this gondola-type little boat. It was cold so we just walked the path next to it.

Look at all the daffodils! It's definitely sping! Or at least supposed to be... *pulls beanie on tighter*

 I had a wonderful birthday, very relaxed which is what you need at my age ;) No but seriously, it was great!

    Sounds like a great birthday! Cambridge is a beautiful place, we spent a summer there and loved every minute of it!

Fabulising February - Men's Shirt Dress

Hi everyone! Fabulising February is nearly over and this is the last project I have managed to complete.Tomorrow I'll post a short recap showing all the finished projects. Wanting to go out with a bang, I tackled a men's shirt that the bf bought online many years ago and forgot to return it so I wanted to make something nice out of it. Seems a waste to be throwing away a brand new shirt! Granted, it was white and while probably cotton it was very thick and stiff material. So I dyed it purple. Of course. Once it was purple, I then had to try and do something with it. Easier said than done! I finally found a cute idea for a dress in blogland (didn't save the link though) and I really wanted to try that. But the instructions were super tricky so in the mending pile it went. This is the shirt. Much too large even for the bf but purple at least ;) And a bit wrinkled for being in the bag for a very long time. But with only a little time left in my Fabulising February

My Neighbor Totoro Project #2: Catbus

Hello again! So last time I showed you how I made Totoro. I ended up making yet another doll / pillow from the same movie for the same friend! I think this was a present for a combination of life events, and I knew she would love this. This time, I made Catbus! (if you don't know what Catbus looks like, please Google it as there are so many references out there! Or better yet: watch the movie, you will love it!) Again, I went shopping for fabric... at least this time I knew what I needed, the wool was just perfect, I just had to find the right colours. Catbus has various shades of brown and a bright yellow. The brown was easy but I couldn't find yellow anywhere... In the end I opted for yellow felt which worked as well. Not the tiny squares of craft felt, no the proper felt on a roll. It seemed stronger, and the colour was perfect. Sadly this time there was no tutorial, but I did find a pillow on ebay that served as inspiration for this project. Ok, I mostly copied it... M
